Michael Barton is the vice president and general manager of Apparel Solutions, Solutions Group for Avery Dennison Corporation. He was appointed to this position on January 1, 2022, after serving as vice president and general manager, Global Commercial for RBIS since 2015.

In this role, Michael is responsible for driving global growth, in addition to integrating activities focused on innovation, product development, sales, and customer service. Known for leading through trust, accountability, and commitment to the business, Michael also leads sustainable partnerships with apparel brand owners, retailers, and their factory partners. To ensure a simplified and integrated approach to serve all of our customers, he works across three global regions, leading strategy and execution for RBIS’ commercial business worldwide. Michael also represents RBIS on the board of the American Apparel Producers Network (AAPN) where he is helping the industry build a amore compelling and collaborative supply chain to support the U.S. Retail Market.  

Prior to his current position, Michael was vice president of Commercial, Global Performance, where he led a cross functional team to drive the rapidly growing Performance and Outdoor Segment. In this capacity, he built and drove the execution of the Performance Segment strategy, enhancing RBIS’ position with leading athletic brands and retailers, resulting in 40 percent growth over a two year period.

Michael joined Avery Dennison as a Factory Sales account executive in 1995, and quickly propelled his career through a variety of leadership roles, including customer relationship manager, regional director and vice president of Sales, then moving on to become vice president of Commercial for the Americas in 2010. In this position, he led the commercial strategy and execution for North America across sales, product development and market development.  

Prior to Avery Dennison, Michael was an account executive at major regional paper supplier, Bay West Paper Company in Houston, Texas. There, he managed a $4 million distribution channel, including five major businesses selling in the B2B environment.

Michael holds a B.A. in Communications from Texas A&M University.
