Avery Dennison RBIS teamed up with ISKO™ Denim, the world’s number-one producer of premium denim, to seek out the next generation of talent in the denim industry. Design students were tasked to create a complete branding concept for their denim designs, a competition that saw over 50,000 students selected down to just 12 finalists.
In a beautiful setting of Treviso, Italy, the exclusive event showcased the participants’ final collections, culminating with the ISKO I-SKOOL™ Denim Awards. The competition featured students from some of the most prestigious design schools around the world, and I am pleased to highlight some of the most creative, innovative branding designs that made it to the final.
Our very own Avery Dennison RBIS award winner, Farah Sherif Wali, from Polimoda International Institute of Fashion Design and Marketing, Italy, caught the eyes of our judges with her use of color, broad range of materials and well-developed logos that resulted in a strong brand story. I especially love these beautiful illustrations seen on multiple products from the back patch to packaging to the intricate hand embroidery designs in her collection.
Elsewhere in the collections, we saw products inspired by activewear and the booming wellness industry. The ISKO™ Athleisure category encompasses everything for today’s stylish, eclectic denim devotee. A reflective range from Alina Peuker was a stand-out collection, featuring this overrider with black screen print and laser cut stencil type.
Tonal branding is a mainstay across all areas of fashion. For denim, this style looks premium, sporty and almost futuristic with symbol-like typography embossed and raised in these examples by Farah Sherif Wali and Nadja Kiess. Black molded silicone badges with heat seal by Joona Rautiainen are a refreshing update for the jeans’ back patch.
Gloss, shine and glitter brought some welcome sparkle to the show, with products ranging from woven lurex yarns to printed gold foil, to this fabulous swing tag by Quentin Lovelace, featuring rainbow mirror board and our latest sculpted print innovation - Sense by Scodix™.
This beautiful dogtooth crystal design by Ester Rigato from IUAV Design della moda, won her a well-deserved award from SWAROVSKI.
And finally, we are excited to welcome Avery Dennison RBIS award winners Farah Sherif Wali from Polimoda University and Travis A. Rice from AMFI Amsterdam Fashion Institute to join us on an internship basis is the near future.
