Press Release

The innovation partnership will unlock new opportunities for on-demand fashion

LONDON, UK —September 2019—
Global fashion software company Unmade announced today a partnership with Avery Dennison, a global leader in innovative materials science, branding and manufacturing.

As technology continues to reshape industries, Avery Dennison has seen the unique value that Unmade’s platform brings to the fashion industry. By offering a demand-driven solution, Unmade’s software enables fashion and sportswear brands to be adaptive, faster and more efficient in today’s world. This unlocks new business models, greater product variety, and reduced time to market. Avery Dennison’s manufacturing technology will connect with Unmade’s agile supply chain platform to unlock new opportunities for forward-thinking brands.

The partnership will initially focus on the sportswear industry, where the need for personalization is already high, but there are plans to diversify beyond that segment of the industry to other areas of the apparel industry where customization and personalization are driving consumer demand. Together, Unmade and Avery Dennison will focus on deploying efficient tools and technology to address the challenges many brands, leagues and clubs face with creating a seamless, end-to-end, experience for consumers seeking a personalized garment.

“As we expand our business at Unmade, we continue to build collaborations with world-leading partners and brands,” said Hal Watts, CEO at Unmade Ltd. “We are extremely excited to announce a partnership with Avery Dennison, a world-leading manufacturing partner and a key player of our ecosystem. We believe that working together in partnership will provide the industry with the first seamless, digital, end-to-end solution for customisation.”

As a result of their partnership with Unmade, Avery Dennison will create a true end-to-end customisation and personalisation engine that is fully integrated with its manufacturing platforms at scale. It is a key enabler to having a highly flexible and swift manufacturing platform that will meet the needs of the industry. This partnership highlights the shared vision of fashion driven by demand and delivers a unique value that the world’s most innovative brands are looking to unlock.

"Customization and personalization are fast-growing trends in the apparel industry," said Rishi Pardal, Vice President and General Manager, Apparel Solutions at Avery Dennison. "Combining Unmade's innovative technology with our digital manufacturing platforms will create a scalable platform that brands can use to help consumers customize a truly unique garment. This technology is a significant step forward in creating an on-demand supply chain that produces what is needed, when it is needed, reducing inventory and waste across the supply chain."

About Unmade

Unmade is a global fashion software company, having raised $10 million to date, driving innovation through an end-to-end digital solution for on-demand production at scale, delivering customisation, team-wear and micro-fulfilment. Unmade is working with some of the most innovative fashion, lifestyle and sportswear brands to foster a new level of customer experience through customisation and direct interaction with the product that is completely complementary to the existing production process. The business, started by Hal Watts, Kirsty Emery and Ben Alun-Jones in 2014, was born out of a desire to reimagine both the design and manufacturing processes within the fashion industry, so brands only make what is actually sold, resulting in minimal waste. The company’s cutting edge patented software was nominated for the LVMH Innovation Award at VivaTech in Paris, and in 2017, it won the Best Use of Innovation at the Drapers Digital Awards in London. Furthermore, Unmade was most recently named in Fast Company’s 50 Most Innovative Companies. Pieces from Unmade are now a part of the permanent collections at both The Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. www.unmade.com
