Fdmtl x Avery Dennison Denim Event, Tokyo

Avery Dennison RBIS partnered with Japanese denim brand, FDMTL, to create an exhibition and pop-up customization event for five days at Rocket Gallery, Omotesando Hills in Tokyo.

The event was a celebration of new and old Japanese fabrics. FDMTL showcased their inspiration, traditional patchwork boro fabrics and products made from vintage Japanese materials. Avery Dennison has worked closely with FDMTL to create woven boro fabrics through Collitex in Italy. The Component Weave™ fabrics have been made with indigo yarns to create a traditional denim patchwork effect. The exhibition presented Vans, New Era and Masterpiece products made from Avery Dennison Component Weave™.

In collaboration with the team at Avery Dennison’s Label and Packaging Materials (LGM) division, we also  showcased a denim patchwork floor vinyl, made from photo realistic materials. The launch night welcomed many attendees including brands such as ASICS, New Era Japan, ABC Mart, Masterpiece, Znter, Mitukoshi-Isetan, United Arrows, Eddie Bauer Japan, Beams co., Ltd, AKQA, B's International, and Jumble. Guests were able to customize denim tote bags with woven and heat transfer embellishments, as well as view the exhibition.
